"My very first time performing in a musical theatre production was in the Griffin Theatre at Rendcomb College."
Rendcomb College is thrilled to announce the incredible achievement of former pupil Mia Kobayashi, who graduates from university this summer and has landed her first professional role – and what a role it is! Mia will be taking the lead in the brand new West End musical, "Your Lie in April," based on the popular Japanese anime series.
The heartwarming story of music, loss, and resilience will be brought to life at the renowned Harold Pinter Theatre from June 28th to September 21st, with a 12-week run. This is a fantastic opportunity for Mia to showcase her talents on a major stage, and we at Rendcomb College couldn't be more proud.
During her time at Rendcomb, Mia was consistently impressive with her dedication to the arts, both on stage and behind the scenes. Her passion for drama and music shone through in every performance, and her commitment to excellence was an inspiration to her peers. We are confident that Mia will bring the same level of dedication and talent to the West End stage.
We spoke to Mia who is, understandably, very excited about her West End debut:
“My very first time performing in a musical theatre production was in the Griffin Theatre at Rendcomb College. This experience convinced me that this is what I want to do as a career. When I auditioned for drama schools during lockdown, the teachers were so supportive and helped me film my self-tapes in the Griffin Theatre. This led me to gain a place at the prestigious Arts Educational Schools, London. After three years of training, I will be making my West End debut as the lead role of Kaori in ‘Your Lie In April’. Come and watch! 28th June-21st September at the Harold Pinter Theatre.”
"Your Lie in April" promises to be a captivating and moving production, and we have no doubt that Mia will excel in her leading role. We encourage everyone to catch this exciting new musical and witness the blossoming career of our very own Rendcomb College graduate.
