New Head of College at Rendcomb College Announced for September 2025

The Governors are delighted to announce the appointment of Andy Murphy to be the tenth Head of College at Rendcomb College from September 2025.

He will be joining us from Stamford School, Lincolnshire, where he has worked since 2014, most recently as the Senior Deputy Head.

Raised in Scotland and attending The University of Edinburgh to study Biology, Mr Murphy then ventured south to The University of Oxford where he attained a Masters in Science as well as his teaching PGCE qualification.

He worked in Marketing for Guinness and then for Heineken before making the move to Teaching. He has worked in education for 18 years at Felsted, Stowe and Stamford, and has gained great experience in both boarding and day environments, in small and large schools. Andy is a firm believer in continued professional development and recently completed his National Professional Qualification for Headship (NPQH).

Of his appointment, Mr Murphy said:

“I am absolutely delighted to be joining Rendcomb College in September 2025. I genuinely enjoyed the rigorous interview process, and it was an honour to meet so many students, staff, parents and governors throughout. I walked away feeling very confident that this is a great school and the perfect size to get to know everyone in the school community.

“The Cotswolds is an idyllic place to live, and I cannot wait to fully immerse myself, and my family, into life here.”

Mr Murphy is married to Gabi, who is also a marketeer turned teacher. They have two children, Fletcher and Aurora, alongside their Golden Retriever, Holly, completing the family.

Mr Murphy absolutely loves all sports and still plays cricket, rugby, hockey and football at every opportunity. He is a keen cross-country runner, with a number of marathons under his belt, and is looking forward to taking on the Cotswold countryside!
