Cultural Enrichment Programme

International pupils are extremely welcome and valuable members of the 'Rendcomb Family' adding richness to the school community.  We currently have pupils studying with us from all over the world and we celebrate the different cultures through our Cultural Enrichment Programme.  We often live and work in global communities so it is important for us all to learn, respect, understanding and appreciation of different cultures.

International Celebration Evening

Each nationality work together to create an attractive display to show case their nationality and culture to the rest of the school community. The evening brings a variety of entertainment each year chosen by the pupils and has included, traditional dance, food, games, calligraphy, origami and musical performances. Some wonderful culinary delights are always a joy to sample and are prepared by the pupils themselves. Pupils are encouraged to bring items and clothes from their home country to showcase during the evening.

American Thanksgiving

Staff and pupils enjoy a delicious traditional Thanksgiving lunch prepared by our dedicated team of chefs. American families are invited to join in the lunch festivities with their children. As this is also a Mufti Day pupils are allowed to enjoy a non-uniform day, which can if desired be linked to an American theme as it falls on Thanksgiving Day.

European Day of Languages

Throughout this day we encourage our pupils to use and speak as many words as possible in a different language. The aim of the day is to alert pupils and staff to the importance of language learning and to promote intercultural understanding.

Pupils will receive a presentation delivered by their Academic Tutor and enjoy a special lunch.

Chinese New Year

Chinese New Year celebrations see wonderful Chinese decorations fill the Dining Room where all pupils and staff enjoy a delicious Chinese banquet together during lunchtime. The younger pupils create artwork that is displayed in the Dining Room area. Boarding Houses often arrange additional festivities to support this important time of year.

International Stars Concert

The International Stars Concert welcomes mixed ability performances and is held in our Griffin Theatre. We have enjoyed solo performances, group dances, musical performances and duets. The talent showcased by our pupils each year is a delight to watch. More recently we have welcomed a group of 10 visiting Japanese pupils who have introduced their culture to us through music and traditional dances. Pupils and guests enjoy delicious refreshments during the interval.

International Cafe

Once a week our pupils have an opportunity to attend the International Cafe. This is hosted by the International prefects and held within the International department. Pupils can expect a warm welcome where they may ask questions, request support or advice from the prefects and forge new friendships whilst enjoying some delicious refreshments provided by our team of chefs. The laughter that can often be heard form this session fills the international corridors!
